Neighborhood posts on EastSacWatch have been increasing in quantity and improving with quality in 2011. Our posts are forwarded to our new Sacramento Police Department Captain Ken Bernard if they are repetitive, reflect new information on crimes or are not referenced in Department alerts. Please remember that crimes should always be followed up with a police report. Reports may be filed online or contact 311 for more options. Please continue to file incident reports on EastSacWatch and remember to use the non-emergency police number or 311 to access our police or city departments.
The year has seen more home and business burglaries, reports of suspicious solicitors, petty theft, vehicle vandalism or theft, and recyclable rummaging. Some violent crime including business robberies and assault or theft by armed criminals has also unfortunately occurred. These incidents and more can be found at Eastsacwatch.com and Sacramento Police Department sites such as Enotify. The continued message with all the incidents is be aware of your surroundings, report suspicious behavior, and maintain good neighbor communication so that eyes and ears can be maximized to assist our peace officers in doing their jobs.
The EastSacWatch site is primarily focused on neighborhood safety issues but I have had some incident report filers ask if other subjects can or should be addressed. The short answer is we have found lost dogs, reported suspected problems and answered questions about farmers markets with neighborhood input, so don't be afraid to ask questions if you need help with an issue. The only caveat is, keep the comment brief and on point and don't clog the site up with material or responses which might impact our crime watch efforts.
The McKinley East Sacramento Neighborhood Association(MENA) is pleased to bring East Sac Watch to our neighborhood. Your continued participation in the site is appreciated and valuable to our community. Please consider joining MENA so that you can participate in other neighborhood activities during the remainder of 2011 and next year.
