MENA heads River Park's Great American Clean-Up Site

September 27, 2010

Great American River Clean-Up a Huge Success!

Saturday, September 25th MENA sponsored the annual Great American River Clean-Up at Paradise Beach in River Park. Over 140 people turned out for 3 hours in the morning to help clean up the riverfront and surrounding areas.  We estimate over 705 lbs. of trash was hauled away.  Volunteers found a large plywood ski ramp, an old bicycle frame, tire wheels, a wallet, recyclables, cigarette butts, food wrappers and even cash!  Non-native plants were also dug up.  The area should be more usable and welcoming without all this trash!  Volunteers were given a GARCU T-shirt, snacks and water, and chance to make a difference in our neighborhood.

A big Thank You to all of our MENA volunteers that turned up to help.
